Multi-neck Option

Due to the unique removable neck concept with having the strings come off the bridge as well, a new possibility opened up;  you can several exchangeable necks only with one guitar body! That’s what we call the “Multi-neck option”!

So instead of having just a single steel string guitar you turn it into a Classical guitar, a Mandola, a Baritone, a Bouzouki, a Lap-steel… the list goes on. Each neck is individually perfectly fitted to the body with the correct string action, intonation and width. Also each neck comes with a matching string holder pieces that fits perfectly onto the modified bridge on the body. So each neck is always ready to go and you can switch between to instruments within 30 seconds and be pretty much in tune!

Possibilities and limitations

There are some neck combinations that work better than others due to the different string tensions. For example, if the guitar is meant to have a classical neck only the top is built much lighter to maximize the sound. In the case of a multi-neck model with a nylon and steel string neck the guitar top needs to be built according to the much higher tension of the steel string neck which would tonal compromise for the Nylon strings. So basically neck combinations with a similar string tension work best without having to compromise on tone quality.
For example great combination are Guitar/Baritone, Guitar/4-string Bass, Guitar/Lap-steel, Guitar/Bouzouki…

If we are talking about an electric or semi-acoustic guitar which is only played amplified those things don’t really apply and pretty much all combination are possible with the according pick-ups.

Are any combinations possible?

There are some limitations due to the different scale lengths and it depends on what body is used, but a lot is possible as you can see on the samples below! Since the bridge is our fixed point and we have to play with the neck length for the different scales, some necks would simply get too long or too short on either the small or full-size body.
The neck ends always need to have the same width to fit the same body pocket. Keep this in mind when you’re thinking about some special combinations. For example if you combine a narrow Bouzouki neck with a regular guitar neck, the Bouzouki neck will have this somewhat funny looking wider neck end. The nut and overall neck width can vary and also the string spacing at the bridge can be customized with the string holder piece according to the desired measurements for that particular neck.
As mentioned above already, each neck is fitted individually for perfect playability and intonation. If some necks need a different string compensation than others, an extra saddle will be provided to exchange.

As you can see, you can get as many necks as you want and a lot of combinations are possible! It’s also a great way to safe some money if you’re looking for several instruments as you only have to buy one body! On top of that, you are not only bringing your guitar on your holiday trip, but several other instruments in a small package 🙂

The Multi-neck option is offered on both body sizes the B-C small and full-size. For the extra neck there is also an extra bag provided.

Can I order a separate neck for my existing B-Compact guitar?

Yes you can, but to assure that the neck angle, intonation and the fit in the pocket is perfect I will need to have your existing guitar at the shop in Lavin during the finishing process to make those adjustments. So to avoid some extra shipping costs and hassle with customs when sending the guitar back and forth it is always cheaper and easier to order a separate neck in the first place…
